Supreme Court dusts out 250 matters for 7- & 9-judge benches

Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud plans to address 250 long-pending cases, including the sub-classification of backwardness within the scheduled caste category for quota redistribution. These cases, referred to either seven-judge or nine-judge benches, have been pending for decades. The issues to be heard include the redistribution of quota within SC reservation, reconsideration of a five-judge bench judgment, and the minority status of Aligarh Muslim University.
